R. Matthew "Matt" Burne 08/29/67-11/28/04
We proudly dedicate this page to our son, brother, colleague and dear friend, Matt Burne. Matt was President / CEO of Burne Automobile Dealerships (dba "Burne Honda") from 1997 to 2004. Under his savvy direction the dealership achieved dynamic sales and revenue growth, earning Matt and his staff valued recognition from American Honda Motors. He was a distinguished businessman who worked tirelessly on capital improvements and renovations to his store, all which helped revitalize "Dealership Row" on Wyoming Avenue in Scranton. Matt established this website, the content of which remains his original words.
A 1985 alumnus of Abington Heights High School, Matt earned various academic honors and graduated at the top of his class. He continued his education at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, where he received dual degrees in economics and biology. Always striving for more knowledge, he completed his education by earning an MBA in Finance from the University of Scranton. In 1994 he was awarded the prestigious pewter Frank O'Hara Medal for Academic Excellence.
Matt's skills brought him success, but his character defined him. His intelligence, vision, generosity and community-minded spirit made him a man of great integrity. He is dearly loved and missed by us all. His family, employees and friends honor his legacy by continuing the wonderful work he started. -Shelley Burne Gentner
